In late 2005, Francesca Forsyth and Christina Clark found themselves living under the same New Jersey roof while raising their young children. Driven to provide a supplemental income for their families, and determined not to rejoin corporate America, these two Italian sisters began to focus on their mutual passion – women’s handbags. An undeniable natural talent for design was quickly uncovered and Teresamia was born.

Teresamia creates an assortment of handcrafted shoulder bags, totes and cosmetic bags. Each bag is unique and one-of-a-kind; once it sells, it’s gone forever. This “originality factor” has been the main driver of success for Teresamia ever since the inception of the business. The demand for a bag that is truly one-of-a-kind has far outweighed the founders’ original expectations, and has launched Teresamia from an idea to an enterprise.

Due to the original nature of Teresamia products, there is no need for an advertising budget within the Teresamia business plan. All publicity is based on word-of-mouth communication, and that method has proven most effective. The first sales were made only to friends and family on a local basis until the launching of the online store. Since then, Teresamia products have been shipped all over the country.

Teresamia remains a two-woman operation today, and is thriving for one reason: Francesca and Christina are doing what they genuinely enjoy. Even if there were no customers to purchase the finished product, these two sisters would continue designing and creating. The word “Teresamia” is a yoking of the founders’ middle names and can be found on the logo affixed to each handcrafted bag as a symbol of quality and creativity.
